KINLAU AIR CUSHION DRYER/LEAF CLEANER
MOST COMMON QUESTIONS
Q.?. Isn't this just a 'fountain
dryer'?
No: Old style '"fountain dryers" have slow entry speeds and a minimum of
operations. The
Kinlau Air Cushion Dryer/Leaf Cleaner
enters cotton @ a high entry speed making it more of a "jet speed" dryer.
The higher entry speed provides for a greater hot air-cotton mix for very
efficient drying and also importantly a separation of the pin trash from the
seed cotton itself, this both enhances and permits its removal.
Q.?. How much leaf can this machine
really take out?
Field study shows up to 40% of total leaf/pin trash is removed in the basic
model. Higher percentages are
removed in the models with recirculator-separator units.
Q.?. Where, in the gin, would this
machine work best?
The
Kinlau Air Cushion Dryer/Leaf Cleaner
is most effective immediately after the cotton leaves the module feeder hot box,
or the unloading separator. The
unit can also be very effective as a secondary dryer after the first cleaning
stack, but not as effective a cleaner due to the nature of the incline cleaners
effect of beating leaf into the seed cotton.
Q.?. Will this machine work in pull through systems?
Most of the
Kinlau Air Cushion Dryer/Leaf Cleaners
operate in the field under straight pull systems.
The machine will, however, work just as effectively well under push pull
conditions.
Q.?. Will this machine really be an effective cleaner on picker cotton?
Q.?. How many bales an hour can be effectively put through this machine?
At the present time, the largest single cotton stream unit has handled 55
BPH. Usually
larger gins have two streams of cotton with up to 30 BPH in each stream.
Larger
Kinlau Air Cushion Dryer/Leaf Cleaner
models can easily handle that much cotton, both cleaning and drying.
